Account Health Rating below 200: what to do in the first 48 hours

An Account Health Rating (AHR) below 200 means your account is at risk; below 100 it is critical and can be deactivated. Do not rush an appeal. Open the policy violations behind the drop, fix the underlying problem, gather evidence, then appeal or acknowledge each violation with a specific plan. Start with the violations that carry the most points.

What the Account Health Rating means

RatingStatusWhat it means
200 to 1000HealthyNo action needed beyond normal monitoring.
100 to 199At riskUnresolved violations are pulling the score down. Act now.
0 to 99CriticalThe account may be deactivated.

The score is driven by policy violations, such as intellectual property complaints, product authenticity or safety issues, restricted products and listing policy violations. Each carries a different weight. Resolved or successfully appealed violations stop counting against you.

Hour 0 to 4: understand the drop

  • Open Account Health and list every violation with its date, ASIN and point impact.
  • Read the full notification for each one. The exact policy named decides the fix.
  • Check your email and Performance Notifications for anything that came with it.

Hour 4 to 24: stop the bleeding

  • If a listing is wrong (wrong claims, wrong category, prohibited keywords), fix it now.
  • If a product may really be unsafe or not as described, remove the stock from sale.
  • Pause anything that could cause more of the same violation, such as a new supplier batch.

Hour 24 to 48: gather evidence and decide

For each violation, decide whether it was valid. If it was not (for example, an IP complaint about a product you are authorized to sell), gather proof: invoices, authorization letters, test reports, or a retraction from the complainant. If it was valid, prepare a Plan of Action with root cause, corrective actions and preventive measures.

Which violations to fix first

  1. The ones with the most points.
  2. Authenticity and safety violations, which are the most likely to lead to deactivation.
  3. Recent IP complaints, where a retraction from the rights owner removes the violation.
  4. Smaller listing-policy violations, which are often quick to fix by editing the listing.

Mistakes that make it worse

  • Appealing within minutes with a generic template.
  • Deleting listings to hide a problem. The violation usually stays.
  • Arguing with Amazon instead of showing what you changed.
  • Ignoring small violations until several add up.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is a good Amazon Account Health Rating?

Anything from 200 to 1000 is healthy. Most well-run accounts sit well above 200 with no open violations.

Can my account be suspended with a rating above 200?

Yes, serious issues such as authenticity, safety or review manipulation can lead to action regardless of the score. Treat every violation seriously.

How fast does the rating recover?

It improves when violations are resolved or successfully appealed. Some violations stop counting after a set period, but waiting is risky when you are near 100.
